Charlies' middle name is Hieronymus. It could be a reference to an artist named Hieronymus Bosch. He has a famous painting titled The Garden of Earthly Delights. It is a triptych. The third panel is titled "hell". Perhaps a purgatory/ hell connection?

I loved that Charlie was singing the Oasis song "Wonderwall." The line from the chorus that he was singing was "Maybe... you're gonna be the one that saves me... and after all, you're my wonderwall."
yeah we dont know if this was true. because he knew who he was from the island that he hadnt been to yet? was it really a flashback or a dream or what??
Hieronymus also is an anagram for heroin is yum , could just be the writers having a laugh. Although addiction isn't really the funniest of topics.
In Charlie's flashback to this scene in "Greatest Hits," Desmond is not present as it begins to rain, so it may be that this meeting of Desmond and Charlie took place only in Desmond's mind.
